Top 10 Mistakes to Avoid on Amazon
If you are unaware of how strict Amazon’s requirements
are for retailers, then you may already be making these critical mistakes that can result in suspension or termination from Amazon.
Considering Amazon is the fastest-growing marketplace with 42% growth in Q1 alone, this is an e-commerce channel you cannot afford
to be terminated from due to neglecting their regularly enforced guidelines. Once you get kicked off Amazon, it is extremely difficult to
get back to an active status.Read more

Oppose Efforts to Impose New Tax Burdens on the Internet | eBay Main Street - Public Policy and Breaking Ecommerce News
Let me give you an example of how difficult it will be for an online seller to comply with these laws. Here in Washington state there are 353 dufferent sales taxing entities (cities, countys, transit authorities). Each has a different tax rate to be collected on sales to customers living in their boundaries. Washington Department of Revenue sends out updates to tax rates 4 times per year. Now multiply that by 50 states plus territories and you can see the problem.
The retailer must know the tax rate, who to send the collected tax to and what boundaries that the customer lives within. This means that there has to be a way for the retailer to know this information. Right now, it is not possible to deduce this information from a mailing address.
If the collection of sales taxes is to be accomplished, those taxing entities should be prepared to make it a bit easier for the retailer to handle by not changing their rates more than once per year (on the same date) and by standardizing rates by state so that the retailer has a fighting chance to collect the correct amount of tax from customers.
eBay has a more information and a petition to sign in opposition to these bills in Congress.

Know When to Hold 'Em, When to Fold 'Em
How long should you keep items in inventory?
by Cindy Shebley - Jun 21, 2010
When I went looking for a loan to start our garden shop, the first question I was asked was: "How much inventory per square feet?" Because it was a physical brick-and-mortar store, inventory turnover, as well as value of the goods, was considered a big part of the profitability equation.
To figure out how much inventory per square feet, we had to know how big the sales floor was and then figure out how much stuff we could pack into it. Shelves, hanging stock and peg board meant we could pack more stuff into our little shop. Maximizing floor space also meant a closet-size office space and off-site inventory storage (our garage). read more

Profiting From Change
What sellers need to know to benefit from eBay's Stores changes
by Janelle Elms - Mar 08, 2010
How are you adjusting to eBay's changes? Not too bad, right? They appear to be pretty straightforward, but there are a lot of intricacies within those changes.
Recently we spent three hours with OSI Rock Stars and Web Sellers' Circle members going over the details of these changes and more importantly how they could profit from them. We released these step-by-step videos into the OSI Success Library. You can view them at http://www.2010feechanges.com/.
But today I want to spend some time on one of the more powerful changes that occurred during this announcement: the changes within eBay Stores. eBay Stores have always been the most powerful tool that an eBay seller could utilize, and they are also one of the most powerful tools in an e-commerce business plan. Yet I'm continually baffled why so many people still don't realize this or take full advantage of this opportunity. read more
